I completed my four year apprenticeship in Scotland in 2017. I subsequently moved to Canada upon completion of my apprenticeship. I’ve always dreamed about my starting a company and finally at Christmas 2021 I made that dream a reality. Saltire Plumbing was born. After a lot of deliberation I chose saltire as the name of my business. I knew I wanted a name that was identifiably Scottish. The word Saltire derives from the old French word saulteur or saltier, a word to describe a stile constructed from two cross pieces. The Saltire (cross) is now the name of the Scottish flag. Perfect. I also used a thistle as my logo for the company. The thistle despite being a prickly weed… is actually Scotlands national flower. With my company I always strive to standard of work that I’d be delighted with in my own house.
